Lava Mae, a mobile shower is bringing hope and dignity one shower at time. It has also sparked a mobile dignity and hygiene movement around the globe.
Doniece Sandoval, a passionate and creative woman founded Lava Mae. I linked a video of Doniece talking about how the project started and how it was made possible:

Lave Mae Launch Video 5 minutes 12 seconds
Leah filler, a global community engagement director for Lava Mae describes this project as “radical hospitality”. This idea is definitely innovative and has a great purpose of bringing community members closer, giving hope, and dignity. Here is a video of Leah speaking below:

What I especially liked:
1) It is very innovative to repurpose a city bus and funding it initially through Indiegogo, an online funding platform. They also reached out for sponsors and used Gooddler, another online funding platform to create a wish list for personal hygiene items that ranged from $4 to $40 dollar. gooddler.com/Wishlist/10048
They also made a drop off box for community to members to help out with the cost.
2) They increased their knowledge by reaching, partnering and connecting with a shelter already established in the community.
3) It has a social core value of Dignity and Worth of Person.
4) They are open to helping others states learn their model and bringing projects to other states
5) Opens possibility of other projects from people from various backgrounds coming together for a great purpose

Hawaii will be implementing a similar inspired model hopefully summer of 2016.

In Australia, a mobile washing and dryer van is doing something similar.

It would be interesting to see a documentary on radical hospitality and mobile dignity services...
It would be nice to see how this change developed and this idea has been realized by old and new generations with the same goal, see the old and new technology for funding these ideas. I can't wait to see the evolution this type of work.
